AIMS
LYNNE CORBETT
Lynne
Corbett was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis in 1985
at the age of 21. At this time she was doing the job
she loved, waitressing in some of the finest hotels,
meeting people from far and wide and enjoying an active
social life.
After a few years in a less demanding environment,
Lynne retuned to college, at the age of 30, where
she successfully completed an HND in Hotel & Catering
Management. From this she held the position of Restaurant
Manager until redundancy and subsequent ill health
made a part-time job more suitable.
Lynne's first love was cooking and she enjoyed nothing
more than to prepare meals and buffets at home and
at all our friends' parties and special occasions.
She was always in demand and more than willing to
help out. Her other great love was her family and
she especially adored her niece and nephew who in
turn loved her to bits!
Tragically Lynne died on September 13th 2008 from
cancer, she was 44. She had never complained all her
life despite several operations and procedures and
she did not complain at the end. She was very brave
, organizing her own memorial service (even the catering)
and keeping her wicked sense of humour till the last
few days.
Lynne wanted other sufferers of Neurofibromatosis
in Scotland to benefit in some way, and money raised
at her funeral enabled Confer to set up this website.
The Board of Trustees and members of "confer"
would like to thank the Corbett family for their kindness
and support.
